A tactical game of movement and Other-Worldly Powers,
based on the writings of V. M. Straka…

Axis Mundi is a heavy-weight, 3-player, competitive board game; a multi-stage race set on a mysterious island with a transformative secret (read the back-story here).  Its primary mechanisms are grid movement, action selection, and hand management.

Axis Mundi Documents

Note:  The current Rule Book is Version 5.3.  The playthrough video used Version 4.2, which can be found in the Axis Mundi Rule Book Archive.  The following changes have been made since the playthrough:

  •  Added the Axis Mundi Level Deck, which incrementally strengthens the Angel/Demon, limits the game to 3 Angel/Demon phases, and gives players the option of 3 game lengths to choose from.  Changed setup to compensate for different game lengths.
  • Added the "Free Will" Module, which gives the Axis Mundi the ability to reject characters that enter it, and adds a way for players to mitigate that risk and choose whether to enter Heaven or Hell.
  • Made The Malignant's Infection Tokens less damaging, but now they stay on the board for the entire game.
  • For the sake of clarity, added the following "keywords": Action Points, Move Action Points, Attack Action Points, Hand Limit, Flight Path Limit
  • Added a Game Flow Chart and an Icon List to the Player Aid
  • Fixed various "Edge Case" issues
  • Increased the Action Points needed to perform the "Walk Onto the Axis Mundi Hex" Action from 1 AP to 2 APs.
  • Modified the rules regarding Invisibility, making it a high-stakes game (within-a-game) of Hide and Seek.
  • Made the Immobilizing the Angel/Demon rules more uniform.
  • Adjusted Card benefits and variable player powers.

I recently added graphics to the Permanent Power Cards and am very pleased with the results.  Check it out!

And while you're at it, why not check out the 1-Time Power Cards?  They're where the game gets interesting!

I also recently updated the card backs, thanks to the kind folks at Creative Market!

Inspiration...

Axis Mundi is a 3-player competitive board game loosely based on S., a novel by J. J. Abrams and Doug Dorst.

Good stuff...
